Natural rubber is highly elastic, strong, has a long fatigue life and good weather resistance. It features excellent electrical properties, vibration absorption characteristics and withstands exposure to dilute acids and alkali. Additionally natural rubber has superior tensile strength, abrasion/tear resistance and is biodegradable. Common applications include:
- Hoses
- Bearings
- Conveyor belts
- Vibration dampers
- Footwear
- Tires
- Drive couplings

Consideration for Bonding Natural Rubber—Room Temperature Curing
Room temperature curing systems offer easy processing and high reliability for bonding natural rubber. Some of the major room temperature curing products include EP21LV, EP21TDCHT and EP21TDC-4. Low viscosity EP21LV conforms to FDA Chapter 1 Section 175.105 for indirect food applications. Rigidity and flexibility can be adjusted by altering the mix ratio. High/low temperature resistant EP21TDCHT offers superior toughness, impressive bond strength and outstanding dimensional stability. This product has a convenient one to one mix ratio, good flow and is 100% reactive. Master Bond EP21TDC-4 features a peel strength >30 pli and an elongation of >200%. It is capable of withstanding vibration, impact, shock and thermal cycling.
