Medical grade cyanoacrylates are biocompatible and USP Class VI approved. Select grades have been independently tested and are in full compliance with ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity requirements. They are available for use in a range of viscosities. Low viscosity grades are noted for their wicking capabilities. Additionally they feature resistance to ETO and gamma radiation sterilization. Use of accelerator will give a more complete and faster cure. These instant curing formulations are widely employed in the high volume assembly of disposable medical devices.
Application and Curing Properties of Medical Cyanoacrylates
These adhesives can be readily dispensed with low cost manual, semiautomatic and automatic production equipment. Fixture time is in seconds. Full strength is achieved within 24 hours. The higher the humidity and the thinner the bondline the faster the cure. These compounds offer high bond strength to similar and dissimilar substrates including:- Ceramic
- Glass
- Aluminum
- Stainless steel
- PET
- ABS
- PVC
- Polyurethane
- Nylon
- PPSU
- PSU
- G-10 Epoxy
These single component, no mix products required no heat and adhere well between rigid/flexible substrates. These optically clear compounds contain no solvents and have minimal shrinkage upon cure. They are suitable for bonding clear/opaque surfaces over small/large surface areas. Low bloom/low odor and flexibilized compositions have met unique design challenges. Rapid strength development of high shear strength formulations has enabled increased throughput speed, reduced manufacturing costs in the assembly of IV tube sets, plastics tubing, orthopedic devices, blood pressure transducers, catheters, hearing aids, infusion pumps.
